Welcome
Welcome to Inverness-shire where Girlguiding is thriving and we are currently celebrating our Centenary with County events; Rainbows Go Wild at the Highland Wildlife Park, Brownies' Big Bash Camp at Badaguish; Guides Getaway at Dalguise PGL Adventure Centre; an international adventure for Guides, Senior Section and Leaders to Adelboden, Switzerland. There have been lots of other events, such as District fun days, and members joining adventures run by Girlguiding Scotland and Girlguiding UK. It's certainly going to be a year to remember.
In 1909 a group of girls 'gate-crashed' the first Boy Scout Rally in London. They caught the attention of the Scout Leader, Lord Baden-Powell, and begged, bullied and cajoled him into letting them join the Scouts. He was really surprised at the determination and enthusiasm of this growing band of self-styled 'Girl Scouts' and so he asked his sister, Agnes, to officially start the Girl Guide Movement. From 1910 to 2010, Girlguiding has grown steadily in membership as well as keeping up-to-date with the expectations of today's girls and young women.
Find out how you can be part of this great organisation in the 'Recruitment' page! We look forward to hearing from you.
